Keeping a watchful eye on redistricting

When the Delaware State Legislature returns from its Easter break this week, a key issues it will face is redistricting.  State law mandates the redrawing of state House and Senate district lines be complete by June 30th.  Leaders in both chambers are promising an open, transparent process, but will they deliver on that promise, and complete shaping district lines for the next ten years on time?

Among those serving as watchdog for the process is the Delaware League of Women Voters.  DFM News sat down that with League president, Sandra Spence,  to discuss some the issues surrounding redistricting at the state and local level, including some of the unique issues facing Sussex County where population growth and movement could cause the most significant changes in Delaware.   (For more on what the League of Women Voters’ initiatives regarding redistricting, visit their website here)
